Study, Research, Explore. You’ll find everything you need to take your studies further in the NUA Library.
Housed in the Duke Street Building, a 19th century school building updated to make it fully accessible, the Library houses approximately 33,000 printed volumes, mainly devoted to arts, design, architecture and media.
Finding your way around
When you register as a student at NUA you’ll receive a Library account, enabling you to borrow books, DVDs and games, renew items and make reservations online. You’ll also be offered a Library induction, for an overview of everything the Library offers.
Throughout the year, information literacy sessions will be open for you to attend, covering topics including research skills, using online resources and referencing support. You can also book a one-to—one tutorial with your dedicated subject librarian.
General support is available during Library opening hours via the first-floor helpdesk and library staff office.
What’s in our collection?
Alongside a vast collection of books and subscriptions to over 400 journal titles, the Library is also home to a variety of media including:
- exhibition catalogues
- graphic design yearbooks
- computer application guides
- computer games
- feature films (including a collection of animated films)

Printing, Photocopying and Scanning
Colour and black and white printing and photocopying facilities are available, as well as A4 and A3 flatbed scanners.
Computers in the Library
There are 18 computers in the Library reading and study areas, with a further 28 in the Library computer room. The Duke Street Building is WIFI enabled, so you’re welcome to use your own laptop.
Who can use the Library?
Access to the Library extends to all registered Norwich University of the Arts students and staff, as well as users registered within the SCONUL Access Scheme, alumni and certain categories of educational users and artists/designers.
