The annual Student Christmas Art Sale has opened and items of student work are doing a brisk trade. Traditionally students take over The Gallery at NUA on St Georges Street to sell their work during the Christmas period. The event continues until 11th December.
Student work for sale
At least 100 students from NUA are displaying around 250 works of art and as items are purchased the students are replenishing the stock, so the choice and range is extensive. All works of art on show and for sale are completely original and varied including paintings (framed and unframed), drawings, textiles, sculpture, photos, printed materials such as t-shirts and jewellery.
NUA Deputy Vice-Chancellor Keith Bartlett said: “At NUA we place great emphasis on not just cultivating our students’ creative practice, but also in preparing them for commercial realities. The Student Christmas Art Sale provides an excellent opportunity for them to gain experience in displaying and selling their work, while also creating a unique occasion for members of the public to come and see the achievements of our students and to purchase a truly original Christmas present.”
The Student Christmas Art Sale will be open every day – except Sundays – between 10am and 5pm until 11th December. Payment in cash is preferred but cheques and card payments can also be accepted and purchases can be taken away immediately.
Staff and students featured in NUA press releases are available for further comment.
Our academic staff are leading practitioners and researchers in the fields of the arts, design and media. They are available to provide expert comment on regional, national and international news stories related to higher education and the creative arts.
All camera crews and photographers need advance permission to operate on the NUA campus. Alternatively the University has a wealth of photography and footage which can be provided on request.
Members of the press are welcome to attend all events at NUA. Most exhibitions on the campus, including the Degree Shows, will have a private view event in advance of the public opening for the press and special guests. Details of these events are available on request.
We are delighted to arrange campus tours and on-campus interviews with staff and students.
