NUA launches MA Photography

A new Masters degree specialising in professional advertising, editorial and fashion photography is now available in the city. Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) – recently ranked the top specialist arts, design and media university in the country in The Complete University Guide 2014 – invites applications for MA Photography starting this October.

The course has strong industry backing with renowned photographer Andy Earl, whose work includes over 120 album covers for artists including Johnny Cash, Pink Floyd, Robbie Williams and the Manic Street Preachers, saying: “NUA already runs the most commercially relevant BA Photography in Europe. Now the MA offers this same pro-active approach. NUA has the latest digital facilities, creative staff and strong ties with industry. This course will set students up to fulfil their ambitions in whatever area of photography they choose to work in.”

In addition multi-award winning nature photographer Tim Flach, a former recipient of Professional Photographer of the Year in The International Photography Awards says: “The photography course at NUA focuses on commercial practice, the team has built a strong network of industry professionals to support students.”

The University’s commitment to putting commercial and business skills at the heart of all its courses is reflected in the curriculum for MA Photography, which will stand apart from other photography postgraduate courses for its vocational focus. NUA has long taught Photography at undergraduate level, with graduates going on to achieve successful careers in the industry including travel photographer Philip Lee Harvey, Amy Smith (Lead Photographer at Schuh) and Peng Janthasorn (Commercial Photographer at Brandbank).

The course is taught in NUA’s East Garth Photography Building, an inspirational conversion of a 12th century monastery, fitted with state-of-the-art blackout studios, digital darkroom and teaching space and a Media Resource Centre providing professional equipment for students.

Applications are now open for full- and part-time places on MA Photography for October 2013 start.
