Norwich University of the Arts, rated the top specialist arts, design and media institution in England (The Guardian University Guide 2012: Specialist Institutions League Table), is reporting an increase in demand for places to study on its undergraduate degree courses for 2012. The institution has received a 12.78% growth in the number of applicants over last year’s total by this stage in the recruitment process, thus bucking the national trend for the sector, especially within Arts, Design and Media subjects and proving that NUA is one of the most popular higher education institutions in the country.
UCAS will release national application figures for all institutions later in the month.
The initial deadline for applications for guaranteed interviews to the specialist arts, design and media institution passed yesterday, although NUA Vice-Chancellor Professor John Last confirmed that applications are still welcomed.
He says: “The increase in applications to NUA is a reflection of high standards of teaching, excellent resources and overall level of student satisfaction. We will make offers of places to students after we have viewed a portfolio of their work and seen them for an interview. With the government capping growth in the higher education sector, competition for places at NUA remains strong, but we would encourage students who are confident in the quality of their work to apply as soon as possible to get the best chance of securing an interview.”
NUA offers degree courses in Fine Art, Architecture, Fashion, Graphic Communication, Graphic Design, Illustration, Textiles, Animation, Film & Moving Image Production, Games Art & Design and Photography.
Staff and students featured in NUA press releases are available for further comment.
Our academic staff are leading practitioners and researchers in the fields of the arts, design and media. They are available to provide expert comment on regional, national and international news stories related to higher education and the creative arts.
All camera crews and photographers need advance permission to operate on the NUA campus. Alternatively the University has a wealth of photography and footage which can be provided on request.
Members of the press are welcome to attend all events at NUA. Most exhibitions on the campus, including the Degree Shows, will have a private view event in advance of the public opening for the press and special guests. Details of these events are available on request.
We are delighted to arrange campus tours and on-campus interviews with staff and students.
