Un Cheong

MA Communication Design

My work is focused on the realms of ‘everyday life’ following the principles of ‘form follows function’ and ‘function follows form’, in order to develop objects and environments that offer alternatives to domestic living.

At the heart of my research, I am investigating the question ‘How room interiors populated by specific furniture design can improve our indoor society?’ In doing so, my work attempts to understand the context and features of everyday objects and their environments. My design thinking also aims to develop ecological and sustainable outcomes that can enrich our normal life. The development of my designs involves an iterative visual process applied through a deep investigation of model making resulting in a series of hybridized furniture prototypes.
