MA Moving Image and Sound

Paris- Moscow is a short documentary film about night-train travel. This project is an attempt to come closer to an understanding of cinema as an independent art form. Paris-Moscow disclaims genre division, dependency from literature, the influence of morality, as the main tool of orientation and understanding of the world. What I aim for is a non-narrative structure and poetic storytelling quality of the film. My research has involved an investigation into the concept of pure cinema, poetic mode of documentary and lack of narrative. The project does not provide an assessment of what is happening but it gives everyone the opportunity to take from this film something for yourself. This film is contemplative and therapeutic, a film that is trying to get closer to the poetic and abstract perception of the world.
