MA Moving Image and Sound
Researching the area of pre-production in Film, Game and Animation. Specifically, my focus is on Art Department development and iteration of story led designs, for science fiction and fantasy genres. Utilising drawing, painting and modelling techniques, including traditional and digital 2D media, through to digital 3D block outs and on to 3D print prototypes for further development.
Briefs for pre-visualisation vary and will always have different challenges, which can be solved holistically with an adaptable working process. Sketching quick thumbnails for testing compositions, onto digital and traditional studies of form, colour and light. Testing out more realised designs in 3D, 3D Printing prototypes for real world iteration, any and all of these aspects combine to create the adaptable skillsets required to fully realise original and unique concepts that fit the creative brief.
For the Masters Project I have shown a range in ability by developing original intellectual properties for Character, Environment and Prop asset briefs, developed along side a short narrative for context. Creating a glimpse into a fantasy world set in the late 1930s with an art Nouveau aesthetic and a hint of fantasy, the aim being to show my employability for studio or contract roles in production.
