Campus Life at NUA

Words and photography by second year student, Beth Poulter, BA (Hons) Fashion Communication and Promotion

In the lead up to the busiest time on campus, the Degree Shows, I spent some time exploring the university campus speaking to students about what Norwich University of the Arts means to them. As a student ambassador, seeing the progression of works from fine art, textiles and other courses is a privilege I already possess.

I made my way through the workshops of every course at the university, speaking to students from all courses. As the only course based at the Duke Street building, Fashion Communication and Promotion students often only engage with each other, a stereotype I was keen to begin to breakdown.

It is no secret that the creative industry is built on connections, and often the best connections we can make as students are each other. Via this blog post, I was able to meet and engage with students from other courses whom I may never have approached unprovoked. It gave me an opportunity to get inspired by the incredible work being produced around campus around this time, which has in turn driven my own desire to be more creative in my approaches to briefs.

I asked a series of questions to students across the campus, provoking a response to ‘what NUA means to them’ and what the future holds for them.
