Course content

The course is very industry focused and students do a lot of research, looking at markets and career paths. We encourage students to focus on making images they are passionate about and explore how to fit this into a commercial brief.

  • National competitions e.g. AoP Awards, D&AD and Canon Shoot Like a Pro
  • Continued practice in responding to briefs using still and moving image
  • Year Three
  • Production of a professional print or digital portfolio.
  • Written Research Report linked to your practice
  • Understanding the professional opportunities available and developing a marketing package, including website, CV, artist statement and press release

NUA hosts British Art Show 8


Norwich University of the Arts co-hosted the UK’s biggest touring exhibition, British Art Show 8 as part of the Hayward Touring programme from June – September 2016. Recognised as some of the very best of contemporary art in the UK, the exhibition was held in NUA’s St Georges Building, East GalleryNUA, Norwich Castle and Museum and The Forum presenting work from over forty artists including film, sculpture installation and painting and design. Alongside the exhibition, the BAS8 event programme presented a summer of free talks, workshops, roundtable discussions and performances open to the public. Lucy Soutter Delivers Lecture at NUA

Seminal photographer, published author and critic, Lucy Soutter will deliver a lecture to BA (Hons) Photography students in March. Lucy who is also Course Leader of the MA in Photography Arts at the University of Westminster, will present ‘Expanded Photography’ – a talk which explores the current extensions of photography within the expanded field of contemporary art. It looks back to the 1970s to explore historical precedents, and also illuminates the current cultural conditions driving this area of practice. Find out more about Lucy’s work and portfolio.
