Textile Design Part-time Hourly Lecturer
BA (Hons) Textile Design at NUA has a reputation for creatively diverse and practically minded graduates.
We encourage our students to experiment, innovate and develop their own way of working through the combination of visual language, material experimentation and making processes in order to resolve outcomes across fashion and interior contexts.
The part-time hourly lecturer role involves working across the year groups with a focus on weave design teaching but with a cross discipline and commercial approach to the subject. You will join an experienced team delivering the curriculum that aims to cover the fundamental principles of textile design practice, processes and design skills across a wide variety of projects. The role involves preparing and delivering taught sessions including lectures, workshops and tutorials across student groups, including online delivery, and may involve conducting assessment. Administrative duties such as register taking, preparing handouts and course material and writing tutorial notes are an essential part of this post.
We are looking for an enthusiastic textile design lecturer who wil inspire and engage our students teaching design and material fundamentals, concepts and contexts which include trends, sustainability, commercial applications & branding. Applicants will have professional experience within contemporary textile design industry contexts and ideally relevant HE level teaching experience in the UK. You will need to demonstrate strong organisation, communication and teamworking skills.
Please note that teaching sessions are usually scheduled in 2.5 hour blocks from 10.00 – 12.30 and 14.00 – 16.30. Timetabled sessions for this role may include one or two blocks per day. Digital teaching is likely to be required.
