Senior Lecturer – Textile Design

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer to join our Textile Design team and contribute to the ongoing development of a curriculum which reflects contemporary shifts in the industry and society more widely, including ethical and sustainable design; material innovation; digital making and design for wellbeing.

The postholder will take a lead on embedding these issues across the course and have responsibility for organising and teaching undergraduate students as they work towards their final projects and future careers. The postholder will also contribute to our taught postgraduate programme. The role involves working closely with the Course Leader, Fashion and Textile Design to help to shape the identity of Textile Design at NUA and strengthen the collaborative links with other courses and with industry.  

The successful candidate will have a dynamic and proactive approach to Textile Design and strong contemporary understanding of the opportunities the discipline offers.  You will be able to demonstrate an innovation in your own practice and currency in your industry experience and networks. You will have an understanding of how to embed employability in the curriculum and be able to support students in becoming agile independent learners who show creative resilience.

You will be able to demonstrate your skills as an engaging, supportive and inclusive teacher and have the ability to deliver innovative and engaging digital and on-campus teaching sessions, in practical design thinking as well as the histories and theories of design. You will be able to demonstrate high levels of organisational skills and the ability to work with colleagues across the university to ensure a high-quality student experience.

Salary: £42,149 to £50,296 per annum
