Postgraduate Research Degree Bursaries (EU/UK)

Postgraduate Research Degree Bursaries (EU/UK)

Building on our success in the REF 2014, Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) is pleased to offer two PhD fees-only Student Bursaries to research students who are offered, accept and take up a place on NUA’s research degree programme in 2019/20.

These PhD fees-only bursaries are open to EU and UK applicants who wish to pursue either practice-based or text-based research.

Applications for the bursaries will be considered on merit with regard to the quality of the application and relevance of the proposed project to the University’s research theme.

We would particularly encourage applications for bursaries to support the following areas of research:

  • Created and Contested Territories
  • The Norwich University of Arts Collection

Applicants who wish to be considered for a PhD fees-only Student Bursary should visit the University’s Research Pages (http://www.nua.ac.uk/research/) to learn more about NUA’s research environment.

If you are interested in studying with us and would like to arrange an informal discussion about potential research proposals and the application process please contact the NUA Research Office at research@nua.ac.uk.

Applicants should complete the University’s Preliminary Application to Study for a Research Degree form in the first instance indicating on page four of the form that they also wish to be considered for a bursary. Your application should be accompanied by a 1,000 word proposal that follows the guidelines available in the application pack. Selected applicants will be invited to attend an interview at the University to discuss their proposals. Applications will be referred to the University’s Research Degrees Committee for formal approval.
