Interior Design Lecturer
We are seeking to appoint a lecturer with a design approach that will inspire and engage our students in the discipline of Interior Design.
We embrace diversity and promote innovation in our approach to studying interior design and this role will assist the course in these key areas together and support students as they work towards their future careers.
The role involves designing and delivering sessions, primarily for year 1 students, which introduce and develop a range of practical skills and contextual design knowledge. Liaising with academic and technical staff, assessing student work and preparing and maintaining digital resources to support learning are key elements of the role.
The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of design history and contemporary interior design trends. Experience of teaching sketching skills for ideation, scale drawing and drafting techniques is essential. Knowledge of traditional and digital rendering techniques, materials and finishes, technical design, construction and specification would also be advantageous.
You will have professional experience within the interior design sector and be able to show how this informs your teaching effectively. You will have an understanding of innovative teaching methods and strategies to support students in becoming agile independent learners. It is essential you are able to demonstrate strong organisation and teamworking skills and a flexible approach to your work.
This role is on a 0.4 FTE fractional basis and is fixed term to 16th July 2021
