Winners of the Jennifer Davey Memorial Award for Fine Art 2017/18
The Jennifer Davey Memorial Award for Fine Art is offered by Brian Davey in memory of his late wife Jennifer Davey, who had a lifelong passion for art of many different formats. The award is offered to BA (Hons) Fine Art students in their final year of study.
This year the prize was split and awarded to students Paul Bryan and Alveera Rahman. Brian, who shortlisted the applicants and selected Paul and Alveera, noted:
“For a winner to be chosen to benefit from the Jennifer Davey Award required a great deal of careful thought as the standard was so good. Ultimately the decision was made to select two people whose work and outlook was considered to be more in keeping with known interests of my late wife. Both Paul and Alveera demonstrated the qualities I thought were important and provided an ability to demonstrate and answer questions in an appropriate way. Both recipients stood out as being very talented by producing some very striking work- Paul, whose 3D work impressed me so much, and Alveera who was able to translate the 2D by visualising 3D applications.”
