Winner of Norfolk Contemporary Art Society Prize 2018
Final year BA (Hons) Fine Art student Beth Bartlett has been awarded the Norfolk Contemporary Art Society Prize 2017/18.
Beth’s work was selected after two viewings of this year’s BA Degree Show by panels made up of Norfolk Contemporary Art Society committee members. The panels agreed that the overall standard of work in the exhibition was extremely high, and noted the wide range of approaches and media used.
Committee member Andrew Eden commented:
‘Beth’s ambitious work cleverly combined a suspended welded sculpture with a video of changing colour images. Rather than these two very different elements becoming separate, their interaction was fascinating, with the shadows of the linear sculpture becoming part of the video. The work successfully combined elements of movement and time with the permanence of traditional welded steel sculpture.’
