VFX students network with industry professionals at FMX in Stuttgart
VFX visit FMX in Stuttgart, Europe’s premiere VFX and CGI animation conference.
Last week saw BA (Hons) VFX students take their annual trip to FMX, Europe’s premiere VFX and CGI animation conference, recruitment event and exhibition space. Spread over four days, it incorporates over 280 events exploring the latest developments in the fields of animation, VFX, games and immersive media.
Course leader Saint Walker comments about the conference, “It is this concentration of recruiters, academics, practitioners and leading companies like DNEG, Pixar, Disney, Framestore, ILM as well as software vendors such as SideFX, Autodesk, The Foundry, that give students a unique overview into the VFX industry and its practices.”
Highlights from this year include meeting John Gaeta, VFX supervisor behind The Matrix, and spending time with award-winning Director, VFX Supervisor and NUA guest lecturer Hugo Guerra.
"A week of mingling with industry professionals of all levels - mid/senior artists, lead artists, supervisors and HoD's - from such a wide variety of companies... I now have potential job opportunities at different VFX companies, so for me FMX was far more successful than I expected and absolutely worth it."
