Students curate exhibition linked to mental illness
A group of Year Two BA (Hons) Fine Art students organised and curated an exhibition named ‘Absence’ at Nunns Yard Gallery during May 2017. The exhibition aimed to demonstrate the raw realities of living with a mental illness. ‘Absence reflects the experience and perceptions surrounding this raw subject; an area that many find difficult to express’. The exhibition was curated by Year Two Fine Art students Naomi Kirk-Smith, Ruby-Jaye Wood and Siris Hill. Artists included: Robyn Bailey, Andia Brassley, Georgia-Mae Fraser, Rosie Groom, Emma Hampson, Sophia Herrington, Gemma Jouques, Sophie Lewis, John Mallett and Amy O’Connor.
Following the exhibition, Ruby-Jaye Wood said ‘We had a great turnout which included some local and national charities, as well as many positive comments which asked for more exhibitions on this subject’.
