Student wins Hallmark ‘Gifted’ design competition

Lily Lambie-Kiernan

Year two BA (Hons) Illustration student Lily Lambie-Kiernan has won the 2016 New Designers, Hallmark and Tigerprint ‘Gifted’ competition. Lily responded to a daily brief (pictured) set by Hallmark and Tigerprint studios, in the ‘Design-A-Day’ theme. Lily said of her win, “I responded to each daily theme with ideas that I thought reflected my own personal connections. I thought ‘what is this word? What does it mean to me?’ My ideas came from specific personal attachments and connections, creating unique results”.

After deeming Lily’s entry a ‘clear’ winner, the judges commented, “Lily’s work stood out due to her distinctive style. We loved the simplicity, limited colour palette and drawing technique as well as her attention to detail. We are looking forward to seeing how Lily’s work translates across our varied portfolio.” As the competition winner, Lily will receive a prize of £500 and an exciting internship at Hallmark.
