Wenshu Zhang

Dr Wenshu Zhang joined NUA in 2022 as a Senior Lecturer and is specialized in Computer Graphics and Computer Vision. She was a Lecturer in Computer Games Development at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Before that she did research in computer vision at the University of Southampton as a research fellow. Wenshu held BSc and MSc degree in Computer Science from the University of Electronic Science and Technologies of China in 2010, 2013. She obtained her PhD in Computer Graphics from the National Centre for Computer Animation at Bournemouth University in 2017.

I am a person who is enthusiastic and passionate about innovative technologies, always looking to push boundaries and make the most of the possibilities that technology allows us.

My research interest in computer graphics led to my Ph.D. research project titled “Hairstyle Modelling Base on A Single Image”. This research has developed my fundamental knowledge related to computer graphics, benefitting my computer games development skillset. After my Ph.D. study, I joined the University of Southampton as a research fellow. I worked on a multi-disciplinary project funded by NERC Large Grant to develop open-source software of 3D feature extraction algorithms by integrating feature extraction algorithms and deep learning techniques.

I was a Lecturer in Computer Games Development at Cardiff Metropolitan University leading undergraduate modules: Introduction to Level Design and Game Assets Creation, Real-time Computer Graphics, and Game Engine Development. Now, I joined NUA as a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science. I will teach both theory and practice in computer games development.

As a foreigner working and living in UK, I am lucky to embrace the best parts of both cultures. I have a strong motivation to contribute to the diversity of the University. I will use my initiative and collaborate with others to help develop immersive, innovative, and interactive future games.
