11 life hacks for your first week at Norwich University of the Arts

From things to remember to tips to make your first week as straightforward as possible, we’ve got you covered.

We know joining university may seem a little overwhelming but our Student Support Team have put together these life hacks to help you on your first week at Norwich University of the Arts.

1. Don’t forget your ID!

The time has come, it’s Enrolment Week! Make sure to arrive at your allocated time to get your NUA ID Card (and Freshers Week wristband) from our Duke Street Building.

Make sure to bring one of the following; Passport, Driving License or Birth Certificate.

2. How to find your way to the Duke Street Building

It takes just 5 minutes walk from our main campus buildings and it’s super easy to find whether you’re on campus or out in the city.

If you’re coming from St Georges, you can either go across the beautiful St Georges Bridge then take a left after the Last Wine Bar and walk straight to the Duke Street crossing.

From St Andrews House, walk down St Andrews St past the Rumsey Wells Pub, turning right down to Duke St and over the bridge.

3. Get advice from PALs

Talk to your Course PALs (Peer Assisted Learners), your fellow students. They’re here to answer your questions and support you in your first few weeks at NUA. Find them on your Course Facebook page or on the Official Freshers Group.

4. Bag those student deals

Norwich is a very student-friendly city, with your NUS Totum Card you can get access to national chains and business across the City. But there are also some amazing student deals nearby to campus from many independent businesses:

5. Get your course supplies at the NUA Shop

Need supplies for starting your course? Grab them at our NUA Shop! From sketch books, paper, pens, phone chargers, headphones and more, everything is sold at cost price so won’t break the Student Loan.

6. Discover the Playhouse

Playhouse Bar

NUA students are welcome day or night in the cosy Playroom or funky Pub Garden. Buy a soft drink and bring your lunch for free! The Playhouse are a performing arts venue, with international comedy stars, plays, theatre and music performances. They do student discount on tickets too!

7. Something on your mind?

Speak with our Student Support Team to find out what services are on offer – you can find them in the Student Space in St Georges (10.30am-12pm on Friday 20 September) or on arrival to Enrolment. They can advise on disabilities, accommodation, student finance, budgeting, welfare and much more.

8. Explore Norwich’s green spaces
