Billy Sayer

MA Fine Art

Sayer’s work explores psychological states in relation to personal experiences, inspired by his interests in mental health and the human condition.

Driven by the idea that talking about psychological states is still considered to be a taboo subject, Sayer attempts to open up this dialogue through spoken conversation.

By extracting selected statements, Sayer explores the possibilities of creating fractured narratives, through the lens of text and performance.

The work explores the physical representation of an internal reality and the notion of a shared human experience.

“My work comes out of being frustrated about the human condition. And about how people refuse to understand other people.”
