Exhibition

Curation for me is bringing exciting and challenging shows to the public, my audience is everyone, I believe everyone should be able to access any form of art and feel comfortable in any space its shown in. I’m always interested in the passers by, who pop in and see what’s going on. It is these people I want to engage with the most, and who feel that popping in was worth their time.

With ‘I thought I was the audience and then I looked at you’ it has been vital that at every step along the way the audience has been thought about. The concept is challenging, but once understood it touches on exciting connections made between works, by interpreting the historical anecdotes placed alongside each. NUA’s history is a long and interesting one, and through this exhibition you can really gain a sense of what the collections about.

The exhibition only touches on aspects of the collection, in the accompanying publication we have included several more of the works, including additional sheets, so that the audience can carry away their own mini archive.
