Within curation what interests me most is the possibility for choreographing the spectacle of intimacy. I am intrigued by an exchange between artwork and viewer (or voyeur), especially in the way work may be arranged purposefully so as spectator numbers are restricted. Notions of privacy and strategies of proximity are vital here and where possible I enjoy the sensation of experiencing artwork alone.

Within my interests, what recurs overall, is the constant return to ‘woman’. Not solely as a visual image, but as a subject of inquiry. Tirelessly I research to formulate a woman’s language, finding the assertion of women’s discourse, in the face of the predominant masculine one, breaks up, subverts and rewrites a feminist formalism. My personal aim remains to interact with the experiences and ideas of other women working in the domain of art.

For now I find a clash arises between my desire to celebrate woman’s past artistic achievements and my aspiration to guideline her artistic future. Exploring alternative forms of ‘curation’ beside the traditional notion of artwork custodian, at present I consider my writing to be a highly valid form, in which words manifest intimately in the imagination of the reader, rather than visually the eyes of the viewer.
