My background and core interests lie in the field of illustration. However I wish to pursue this term beyond any presumed industry aesthetic, embracing a wider interpretation.

In particular I am fascinated by the idea of illustration as a representation of ‘truth’. This has lead me to consider the ethical responsibility of myself as an illustrator, the integrity of information upon which an illustration is based and the supposed superiority of quantitative data in the creation of so-called infographics. These considerations I feel become particularly engaging when viewed in the postmodern context.

I am excited by the rich and abundant information secreted by the objects, artifacts and concepts that surround me. This information provides the stimuli and the components with which to build new visualisations, new visual ‘truths’.
