Donata Jansonaite

This is a collection of photographs showing landscapes and city views. These images serve as a personal conversation, articulating my time, my history and my memories. Lucy Lippard writes ‘Place for me is the locus of desire. Places have influenced my life as much as, perhaps more than, people’. The places I have lived in have affected my life and my passion for my nationality. I grew up surrounded by beautiful landscapes and during my time in England I have tried to find similar views. I have tried to seek familiar aspects between Lithuanian and English landscapes, which relate to my past. In this respect, this collection is autobiographical. The images capture abstracted views of landscapes, obscuring the locations in which they were taken, so that they lose their specificity, and become universal.
