Senior Lecturer: Architecture and Technology

0.5 FTE – £18,878 to £22,526 per annum

BA (Hons) Architecture at NUA is a new course which recruited its first intake in 2012. We offer students the opportunity to study the subject within an art and design faculty in the architecturally distinguished location of Norwich with contemporary public buildings by Foster and Hopkins complementing historic architecture from the medieval period onwards. Technical and making skills are integrated into creative projects to enable students to learn through experience.

We are now seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Technology to complement our course team. The successful applicant will have a thorough understanding ofcontemporary architectural technology and the associated requirements of the professional bodies for architecture. The role involves running technical drawing studios, technical lectures, seminars, digital fabrication and prototyping workshops, and supervising written text and coursework. You will also coordinate and develop the technological aspects of the architecture curriculum across the three year groups. You will work closely with the Course Leader to ensure skills are developed through integrated design and technology projects at an appropriate level for each year group.

A qualified architect with professional experience of architecture practice and teaching at HE level within the UK, you will have a strong desire to provide a high quality and relevant student experience. It is essential that you can demonstrate experience of teaching design and construction technology in the studio through integrated projects and show specialism in at least three of the following areas: technical drawing production, construction technology lectures; environmental technology, digital fabrication; prototyping; 1:1 making / construction projects; and running a design studio in architecture.

The role requires a proactive approach to curriculum design, organisation, delivery and assessment and a proven ability to contribute to the management of the course in collaboration with the Course Leader.

Closing date: Wednesday 5 March 2014
Interviews will be held on: Friday 4 April 2014
