NUA students network in Paris

Students of BA Textile Design at Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) will present their work at a world leading textile exhibition in Paris this month. The course has taken a stand at the prestigious Première Vision show amongst exhibitors from more than 180 top international textile design studios displaying their creative collections for world markets.

Students will display examples of their work on the NUA stand and network with potential employers and buyers as well as research new trends and materials. The student exhibit is part of the University’s commitment to connecting to the creative industries in all its degree courses and will provide an excellent experience of such events ahead of the course’s appearance at the New Designers show in London in July.

NUA is an independent specialise arts, design and media university that is dedicated to providing vocational, practice based courses which allow students to enter an exciting and challenging community of artists, designers and makers who share their passions and interests. Whilst the institution’s history can be traced back to 1845, it is contemporary and forward thinking with industry standard facilities in its city centre campus.

This year NUA scored higher for student satisfaction than all other specialist higher education institutions providing creative arts, design and media focused degrees in the UK. The University was also ranked as the top specialist university in the country for arts and design subjects by The Complete University Guide.

NUA’s BA Textile Design course provides a combined approach in which students develop their creativity as a designer and strengthen their technical skills in a range of practices. Students explore the idea of textiles through a contextual approach and across the range of processes open to them. A series of lectures and workshops by visiting professionals will introduce you to opportunities in the textiles sector. Recent lectures from industry have included Ptolemy Mann and Sarah Angold and students have enjoyed numerous successes in competitions such as the Bradford Textiles Society Design competition and the Wallpaper History Society competition.
