The look, feel and lived experience of contemporary interior spaces is fundamental to the quality of our everyday lives; the design of our living spaces, workplaces, retail outlets, leisure venues and public buildings exert a profound influence on our understanding of the world around us.
The innovative new BA (Hons) Interior Design course encompasses a wide range of approaches to the design of interior spaces and leads to a number of exciting career pathways in the creative industries. The course embraces diversity and innovation in the study of interior design and supports students to create viable and original design propositions for established and emerging markets.
The course complements other three dimensional focused provision at NUA and the curriculum reflects its location in a specialist arts University. Integrated projects combine creativity with the exploration of techniques in representing space through 2D and 3D visualisation using manual and digital skills. Sketching, collage, technical drawing, model making and 3D digital software are all techniques utilised by the Interior Architect and these elements feature as key taught components. In your final year you will develop a fully evidenced interior design project which combines innovation and creativity with technical competence and realistic costings.
“Interior Design is a title that best reflects the wider subject area and is better recognised by industry as the specialist professional practice field associated with the use of artistic techniques in the planning, designing, equipping and furnishing of residential, commercial and public interior spaces.”
