Graphic Designers gain employment in design studios typically specialising in visual identity, packaging and extended brand communication.
MA Communication Design at NUA provides a logical progression for BA Graphic Design students. All NUA undergraduates receive tuition fee discounts if they choose to continue with their postgraduate studies at NUA.
BA Graphic Design has proved successful with former students holding positions in many of the leading design groups in the industry. Graduates work in senior roles at companies such as Pearlfisher, New York and London based agencies such as Design Bridge and Williams Murray Hamm.
Graduates have also founded award-winning agencies employing multiple staff (including NUA graduates) such as Hat Trick, Carter Wong and The Click. Graduate Ben Farrin recently won the Barclays Enterprise Award earning a £50,000 investment in his mobile phone app – The Student Pocket Guide. Graduates work in a broad range of careers including:
Winning one of the coveted Yellow Pencils at D&AD was a great end to my student experience at NUA and I feel very privileged to have studied there. Through the course I also won the annual Design Bridge competition and have now joined the agency as a Junior Designer.
The course could not have prepared me for the industry any better. The amount of contact we had with professionals is really quite amazing. During my time at NUA I went to lectures by partners at the top agencies and gained inspiration from some amazing designers. NUA prepares people to such a high standard that just the fact that I went to this University gave prospective employees the confidence to employ me.
I work on a variety of international packaging projects as well as an impressive array of identity projects from around the world. I have also been been working freelance on rebrands and identities for The London Clockmaker and an interior design agency.

The rate of employment after graduation at NUA was very high and I felt confident this was the best place for me to start my career. When it came to getting a job, NUA’s reputation preceded itself as an institute of excellence and within two weeks I had accepted a position.
