Students talk about their experience of the selections process for the NUA Fashion Show. Professional models gave previews of the students’ final collections to a judging panel which included fashion designer Betty Jackson CBE and fashion journalist Hilary Alexander.
Seeing my work going down the catwalk at the NUA Fashion Show was an amazing feeling and what made it extra special was the fact that everything was so professional.
The tutors are so passionate and gave me real confidence in myself and my ability. I’m now a very confident designer and cutter as a result.
The course’s focus on learning technical skills from the offset has built my understanding of the processes of making. Project briefs enable me to challenge my creative endeavour.
I feel I’m being prepared for the real world of employment and the course leader teaches a very disciplined approach to design while remaining open minded. The teaching staff are very patient covering the technical side of sewing and pattern cutting and the lecturers are able to talk from experience as designers at fashion labels.
Technical standards are set at a very high level and the quality of my work has improved significantly. I am certain that as a graduate I will be ready and well prepared to enter the fashion world.
