NUA Tate Lecture- Art Under Attack

Thursday 1 May, 6pm, Duke Street Lecture Theatre

Continuing the Tate Lecture series at Norwich University of the Arts, Marcus Dickey Horley, Curator of Access and Special Projects at Tate, presents a talk on the subject of artworks that have been attacked, defaced, destroyed or mutilated. Dickey Horley will talk about three main areas of attack: Iconoclasm – art that was destroyed in the Reformation, Political protests – how activists have used attacks on art to gain attention for a political or social agenda and Destruction as an act of creation – artworks in which the act of destruction is its creative force.
