As Course Leader for Fashion Communication and Promotion at Norwich University of the Arts, it is my responsibility to run a course that reflects the changing needs of a dynamic and fast-paced industry. The aim is to equip students with the knowledge, skills and confidence that will enable them to take their place as creative professionals within the global fashion arena.

I have been immersed in the world of fashion since my first job aged nineteen as a junior assistant for a British couture house. My degree was in fashion design and my first years within the industry were as a designer. I had an opportunity to become a buyer for a large retailer on the UK high street and this shift in direction changed the course of my career. I came to understand how fashion is an interconnected global system, an intriguing realm full of creative possibility. The whole process from design through to production, retail, marketing and promotion fascinates me – I love it all! At its heart, fashion is about communication, emotion and connection. This is the premise of my book, Marketing Fashion published by Laurence King, and why I believe so strongly in this Course at NUA.
