I am involved in teaching across all levels of the textiles course and have specific responsibility for the first year programme. I am especially interested in the student experience and the transition from Further Education to Higher Education ensuring a positive experience for new students and helping them establish a confident presence on the course.

My involvement in the development of the induction and first year programme has given me a clear insight into the needs of new students and has helped me in the development of the Peer Assisted Learning Scheme (PAL) at NUA. As principal coordinator and with the help of committed students we have developed the scheme to effectively support new students onto their University courses.

My own practice is in woven textiles and drawing and I am particularly interested in the translation from drawing to textiles through the use of dyeing and the selection of different yarn types applied to simple weave structures.

I have established strong links with external organisations including the Costume and Textiles Association, Norwich Castle Museum and Study Centre, Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts (SCVA) and other local and regional museums and have been responsible for coordinating student projects with these organisations to support the students in their academic and visual research.
